Music and Movement: Twinkle Twinkle Little Star
Our Favorite Bedtime Songs | Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Sweet Dreams, & Little Snowflake
Talk with your child how crazy it might have been right before Christmas when everyone is busy and they are waiting for Santa. We can’t stay that excited all the time so we can find things that make us calm down such as soft music. Play the song and let your child close their eyes and just listen. We will be doing the same thing in class.
Math: Read the poem below, and talk about how some shapes are flat like a pancake and some you can hold in your hands and feel the entire thing. This is a poem to help you understand.
3 D shapes are fat not flat.
A cone is like a party hat.
A sphere is like a bouncy ball
A prism is a building tall
A cylinder is a can of pop.
A cube is like the dice you drop
3D shapes are here and there
3 D shapes are everywhere!
Find a ball around the house and let your child roll it around. Talk about how it moves easily. It doesn’t have any corners to stop it from continuing to move. Experiment and see what you can do to make it move faster and slower. Feel how heavy it is. Maybe you could find another ball that is lighter or heavier which goes faster. Look around the house for other things that are the same shape as a ball. Remember we are talking about circles, we are looking for spheres.
Message Time: Read or listen to the book called Supermarket.
The books give so much information so just read the main parts, not all the little inserts.
Talk about the book, ask your child to compare your grocery store with the supermarket you go to each week.
Have your child draw their favorite part of the supermarket in the copybook.
Religion: God created the world. Today I would like you to add the ground to the picture that was started yesterday. Either use a brown marker and make an island in the middle of the water. Maybe 5 or 6 inches wide. You can also use a piece of brown construction paper.

Practice identifying the letters of the alphabet, not just saying them by rote.
Message Time: To Market to Market Ann Miranda read or watch the story on YouTube and talk about the story together. Discuss how the illustrator used photography and normal illustrations together. Enjoy the silly pictures together. Look for words that rhyme.

I went to the market and bought some food. Now I can make some yummy stew.
Religion- Talk to your child about God creating the world. On a white piece of paper draw a line about one-third up the page when it is horizontal or landscape view. Have your child color, or if you have paint that would be what we actually did, the bottom portion under the line blue like the ocean.
