On this page you will find all the necessary information to make the transition to second grade a smooth one.
It is expected that all students come to class each day prepared with all the necessary books and supplies. Please refer to the stationery list page for a complete list of needed supplies. All books should be covered. Contact paper is best as it allows children to see the cover to help identify the book. Supplies should be kept in a pencil case. Pencil cases will be taken home on Fri. Please check over the weekend for missing or needed supplies. Folders will also be sent home on Fri. to be cleaned out. Please leave papers in folders until the end of the week.
Please check and initial your child’s behavior calendar each night. A blank space indicates acceptable behavior that day. Children may color in the space green. A number is a code showing an area of improvement. A list of infractions is at the bottom of the behavior chart. Please talk to your child about any infractions noted on their chart. Incentives will be given for good behavior.
Homework is assigned Mon. through Thurs. It may consist of written and/or studying. Homework will be copied into the “H” copybook each day. Please check and sign all homework assignments each night. Homework should be done with care and attention using the skills learned in class. Students completing all homework assignments during the month and turning them in on time will receive a homework pass at the end of each month. This will excuse the student of one night of written homework on a day of their choice.
Tests will be sent home on Wednesday for you to review and sign. Please return tests in folder on Thurs. Failure to sign and return tests is a violation for the behavior code. This is my only way to know that you have seen the test papers.
If your child is absent for whatever reason, a note must come in with your child upon return. Please include the date of absence and the reason. Absences of 3 or more consecutive days require a doctor’s note.
Please make sure your child is wearing the correct uniform each day. Please refer to the BTRCS website for the correct uniform requirements if unsure.
Our school day begins at 7:50. Any student entering class after morning prayers is considered late and should have a late slip from the office.
If your child is changing the usual way of going home, please send in a note or call the office. Emails may not be read until after dismissal. Even though you tell your child, often times they do not remember at the end of the day. Thank you for your cooperation.
Nonfood treats may be brought in for birthdays and holidays. There are 31 children in the class. If giving out party invitations in class, there must be one for every children in the classroom so as to avoid hurt feelings.
