SSR Report- due 3/30
If students have their SSR books that are on their lists, please choose one of these books. If not, please select a book that is grade appropriate. Books should be at least 100 pages but may be longer. Books should be ones that you have not previously read or submitted reports on.
The report for the book must state:
Student’s name
Title
Author
Pages
Students need to write one paragraph summarizing the plot. It should be a five to ten sentence summary of the book. Focus on a few main events.
Students need to write a second paragraph recommendation.It should be three to five sentences focusing on what you liked about the book and if and to whom you would recommend the book.
In summary, your SSR report should be 2 paragraphs and 8-15 sentences. Reports are expected to follow these parameters.

Chapter 6 Revolutionary War Project
With your partner, you are to make a creative response to/of ONE of the topics below from Chapter 6. Ideas are listed below each topic. It is your responsibility to find sources for this information and to provide these with your submitted project. You do not need your Social Studies book in order to complete this project.

TOPIC 2: Dialogue between King George III and Thomas Paine: 10 lines for each person, need to have at least 2 complete and descriptive sentences per line. (“Yes” and “no” do not count)

TOPIC 3: Rap by T. Paine (Thomas Paine) and colored and detailed drawing of an aspect of the pamphlet: The rap and drawing both need to be completed and turned in.
Virginia’s Resolution
Advertisement for the resolution: think about if your audience is the Patriots or the Loyalists; how to convince them using Lee’s words and your own illustrations (colored and detailed drawings): The advertisement needs to have both writing and picture(s).
Modern day version of the resolution: how would the language be changed into how we talk in 2020? Rewrite the resolution accordingly. You must also provide the original words from the Resolution for comparison.
Declaration of Independence
TOPIC 4: Skit about a few (3-4) of the rights demanded in the Declaration. The skits need to clearly express the rights and your performance must be free of laughing or being off task.
TOPIC 5: Google Slides presentation of unfamiliar words (at least 5 words): Provide definitions and examples of how to correctly use all 5 words in sentences.
TOPIC 6: Present day Declaration of Independence: Rewrite a section of the Declaration in your own words. You must also provide the original words from the Declaration for comparison.

TOPIC 7: Historically fictional story or poem and drawing: You need write the story or poem and create a detailed drawing.
TOPIC 8: Dialogue between Washington and a man or men on the boat and an image from online:You need to write the dialogue and create a detailed drawing. The dialogue must have at least 10 lines per person of dialogue that is at least 2 complete and detailed sentences. (“Yes” and “no” do not count)
TOPIC 9: Write a description and create a drawing for the point of view of a soldier: You should share what he heard, felt, saw, thought, tasted, and smelled as well as his perspectives about the crossing.

TOPIC 10: Debate between Gates and Burgoyne: Each person needs to have at least 10 lines that are each at least 2 complete and detailed sentences (“Yes” and “no” do not count)
TOPIC 11: Advertisement for Burgoyne’s Plan: The advertisement needs to have writing and picture(s) explaining why Burgoyne’s Plan is awesome
Valley Forge
TOPIC 12: Play about the experience of living there in the winter: You need to have at least 5 characters, including George Washington, and your play should be historically accurate as to what was written in our book. Each character needs to have at least three lines that are two or more complete and descriptive sentences.
TOPIC 13: Cartoon about the experience of living there in the winter: You need to have at least 5 scenes and your cartoon should be historically accurate as to what was written in our book. Each scene must be colored and detailed. It should be created as if it were for an art grade.
TOPIC 14: Poem or story and a drawing: A poem that is at least 15 lines and a drawing. You need to have both elements.
Other Topic/ Idea: Present your idea to Miss Leavy, in writing, and explain, in at least 2 paragraphs, what key event or part of the section it relates to and how you plan to creatively represent it.
